Leonard Wade Black, age 86, of Marion, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion, Indiana.
Leonard was born on March 10, 1925, in Van Buren, Indiana, the son of the late Clifford and Alice (Hays) Black. The family moved to Wabash County in 1934; and he graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1943. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII in the Phillippines. Leonard then farmed and sold real estate until he moved to Marion in 1966; where he owned and operated and apartment complex on East Sixth Street until he retired in 1990.
Survivors include: two sisters, Ava Jones and Charlotte Speicher; Indiana, and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Black; and three sisters, Harriet Manship, Bertha Weaver and Mable Keifer.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Thrailkill Cemetery, Swayzee, Indiana.
