Lewis R. Porter, age 98, of Marion, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the Heritage Pointe Nursing Home in Warren, Indiana.
Lewis was born on October 29, 1911, in Fleming County, Kentucky in the Locust Community Area. He was the only son of the late Jackson and Mariah Porter. He moved to Marion, Indiana in the early 1930's. He married Martha Foust on November 27, 1940. She survives.
Lewis retired from the Anaconda Wire & Cable Company after 40 years of service. He had lived in Washington Township since 1950. He enjoyed being outdoors and raising a garden.
Survivors include: his wife, Martha Porter of Marion, Indiana; three sons, William Porter (Thelma) of Loveland, Ohio, Edward Porter (Patsy) of Avon, Indiana, and David Porter of Marion, Indiana; 3 granddaughters; 5 great-granddaughters; nephew, Porter Graham of Kentucky; three nieces, Jane Jolly of Paris, Kentucky, Janey Lou Barnes of Heritage Pointe, Huntington, Indiana, and Debra Watts of Marion, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Harmon and Lorene Graham.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
