Madelyn I. Johnson, age 81, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in her home.
Madelyn was born on April 23, 1929, in Bluffton, Indiana, the daughter of the late Amos and Erma (Rockwell) Courtney.
She was married to Lee R. Johnson from December 7, 1947 to 1962. Madelyn was a star softball player, and as a young woman was offered a professional softball contract. She worked at the Foster Forbes Glass Company, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include: three sons, Randall L. Johnson (Jane) of Marion, Indiana; Rodney L. Johnson (Linda) of Tyler, Texas; Robb L. Johnson of Upland, Indiana; daughter, Roxanne L. Parks (Russell) of Upland, Indiana; sister, Joyce Fuller of Marion, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Roger Courtney.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 6, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Justin Schlesinger-Devlin officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 5 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
