Malcolm W. "Bill" Gauntt of rural Andrews passed away on Saturday, July 6 at 8:15 a.m. at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Gauntt was born September 24, 1940 to Martha L. (Jackson) Gauntt and Lavon H. Gauntt. His parents, young brother Clyde, and a baby daughter Tammy A. Gauntt preceded him in death.
Bill married Laurel A. Pinkerton on July 1, 1962, she survives.
Mr. Gauntt graduated from LaFontaine High School in 1959. He also attended Marion College. He then worked for the railroad. Although his passion was farming, he worked for UPS for 5 years while farming with his dad. Bill was a Mt. Etna Volunteer fireman for many years. His passion took over and he started full time grain farming and later expanded with a hog operation. That led him to semis and driving them. He enjoyed conversations with grain buyers and other truckers.
Above all he loved his family and dogs.
Bill attended Banquo Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife laurel; son Todd (Shannon) Gauntt of LaFontaine; daughter Kimberly A. Holder of Andrews; grandchildren Branden (Sammi) Holder of Noblesville, Mikala, and Micah Holder of Andrews; brother Phillip L. (Chris) Gauntt; 2 sisters Phyllis Minton and Carolyn S. (Tom) Rigney.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
