Marigene Nicholson Welch

MARIGENE NICHOLSON WELCH, age 85, of Marion passed away at 3:15 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Golden Living Sycamore Village, Kokomo, Indiana.

She was born February 16, 1924, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of Otis Dewey and Mae Smith. She was a graduate of Marion High School and attented Northwestern University where she was affiliated with Alpha Gamma Delta. She managed the gift shop at Marion General Hospital for several years.

She was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of the Meshingomesia Country Club; MGH Auxiliary; Hostess House and participated in various volunteer activities throughout Grant County.

Survivors include: sons, Robert Todd Nicholson (Sue) of Marion, Indiana, Patrick Nicholson and fiance', Laura Bohannon of Marion, Indiana, and Christopher Nicholson (Faith) of Kokomo, Indiana; daughter, Jennifer Jessup (Tom) of Yuma, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Loretta Nicholson of Orlando, Florida, and Lee Foster (Richard) of Mt. Airy, N. Carolina; nephew, Greg Greenland of Middletown, Indiana; and grandchildren, Matt Nicholson, Sarah Summersett (Bennett), Andrew Nicholson, Jeremy Nicholson and Kristen Nicholson.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph R. Nicholson, second husband, Charles Eugene Welch and sister, Joanna Greenland.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, at First Christian Church, 1970 N. Wabash Avenue, Marion with Reverend Rodger Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
