1958 Mark 2025

Mark K. "Wolfie" Wolfgang

September 17, 1958 — January 28, 2025

Van Buren

Mark K Wolfgang, affectionately known as "Wolfie," left this world on January 28, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he had spent the final moments of his vibrant life. Born on September 17, 1958, in Marion, Indiana, Mark's roots were deeply intertwined with the community that cherished him.

Mark’s professional journey bore testimony to his multifaceted talents and unyielding spirit. He carved his niche as the proud owner of Wolfie's Time Out Tavern in Van Buren, a beloved gathering spot that embodied warmth, camaraderie, and laughter. Prior to this endeavor, he exhibited his tenacity and dedication as a truck driver for Jack Cooper, a profession that allowed him to travel and connect with people, a theme that resonated throughout his life.

Mark was not just a businessman; he was a nurturer of joy. He found profound happiness in riding his Harley-Davidson and playing golf, pursuits that mirrored his free spirit and zest for life. But his true essence shone through in moments shared with children, as he went to great lengths to see them smile, often using candy as a delightful bribe. His heart was as big as his smile and laugh, evident in the charity events he hosted, with "Help The Hopeful" holding a special place in his heart.

His legacy as a dedicated community member is underscored by his role as President of the Grant County Tavern Association and as a proud Teamster. Mark's influence expanded as he became one of the founders of the Grant County Bar Pool Association, a testament to his leadership and vision. An avid pool player and a revered Crew Chief with Lil' Heathen Motorsports, he was also a respected member of Masonic Lodge 711 in Van Buren.

Mark's family was his heartbeat. He was a very proud grandfather of United States Marine Brandon Wolfgang, who honored the values of service and family instilled by his grandfather. He is survived by his devoted daughter Crystal Huston and her husband Doug, along with his cherished grandchildren: Janessa "Scooterbutt" Wolfgang, Brandon "Punkinhead" Wolfgang, Noah Lovell, and Houston Lovell. His brother Keith (Kris) Wolfgang and sister-in-law Becky Wolfgang, alongside his niece Angie (John) Daly and nephews Craig (Annette) Wolfgang, and Aaron (Jill) Wolfgang, share his legacy with several great nieces and nephews. Additionally, he leaves behind a half-sister, Lisa, together with his stepsiblings Chris, Bruce, Nancy, and Diane.

Mark’s passing brings sorrow, yet it is matched by the laughter and warmth he imparted throughout his life. He now joins his parents, Kenneth and Ruthalene (Needler) Wolfgang, and siblings Neil and Julene, in eternal rest.
