Marvin Dee Renbarger

November 10, 1916 — September 13, 2009

Marvin Dee Renbarger was born November 10, 1916 to Fred and Radia (Cain) Renbarger, Marion, Indiana. He attended Sweetser High School and graduated in 1935. He extended his education by taking classes on improving and enlarging farm operations offered by Purdue University Extension Department. His life-long farming career was augmented by his Green-Tip Soil Service, one of the first distributors of liquid fertilizer of Allied Chemical Company. His distribution worked with Lloyd Blaker and later with Max Martin in LaFontaine, Indiana.

His activities in church, school, community and family were varied and extensive. For nearly 80 years, Marvin was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana where he enjoyed serving as an usher and attending the L.A. Chasey Sunday School Class. He was a long-time member of the Sweetser Lions Club, the Grant County Farm Bureau, the Marion Elks Club, The Progressive Farm Club of Pleasant Township and was in the Marion chapter of The Demolay. He was secretary of the Indiana Ayrshire Breeders Association prior to 1954. Marvin enjoyed his Piper Club airplane and the camaraderie in the Flying Farmers Group. Marvin served on the Board of Directors of the Grant County 4-H Fair Board and was President when the fair relocated east of Marion on State Road 18.

In retirement years, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. He enjoyed golf and club activities at The Palms of Bay Beach.

Preceded him in death were his parents, Fred Renbarger and Radia (Cain) Renbarger, Marion, Indiana; two sisters, Thelma Davis (Gerald), Ossian, Indiana and Delene Oswalt (Chet), Marion, Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Renbarger; three daughters, Anne Curless (Larry), Wabash, Indiana, Lynn Hamm (Don), Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Rita Holloway (Tom), Marion, Indiana; a son, Jerry Renbarger (Judy), Augusta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, Wade Reyburn (Paula), Port Charlotte, Florida, Dr. Todd Reyburn (Rhoda), Kokomo, Indiana, Brent Hamm (Kristyn), Fishers, Indiana, Robb Hamm (Amy), Canton, Georgia, Wendy Reilly (Mike), Fishers, Indiana, Sherry Harris (Ray), Marion, Indiana, Tommy Holloway (Julie), Marion, Indiana, Jimmy Holloway (Heather), LaFontaine, Indiana, Anjie Rosete, Alpharetta, Georgia and Dr. Joni Renbarger Sprout (Griffin), Lander, Wyoming; 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Chuck McCallum and Reverend Kaye Patton officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
