Max E. Mauller, age 89, passed quietly with his loving family at his bedside, on Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Marion.
Max was born on August 20, 1922, in Tipton County, Indiana, the son of the late Walter E. and Bertha (Craig) Mauller. On April 5, 1944, he married Dorothy Helen Lloyd. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage, until her death on June 7, 2000.
Max always had a knack for sales. He was a manufacturer's rep for Speedqueen, sold furniture, and retired as the Manager of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Marion.
He was an Army veteran of WWII, where he fought in Europe earning 3 Bronze Stars. He was a proud member of the Timberwolves 104th Infantry Division.
Max was a life member of American Legion Post #10 and the VFW. He was a member of DAV, Amvets, and the 40 and 8. He loved animals, spending time with his family, and exploring on his computer.
Survivors include Daughters: Becky Sexton (Ron) and Teressa Guffey (Charlie Eberhard), both of Marion; Grandchildren: Tim and Heath McMullen, Jordan Choate, Taylor and Alex Guffey; Great-Grandchildren: Sydney Choate, Gracie Guffey, Seth and Dylan McMullen; Caregiver and Friend, Pat Young.
He was also preceded in death by a Brother, Kenneth Mauller; Sister, Clettyce Shafer; and his companion, Zelma Swartz.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home.
Burial with military honors will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion.
