Melvin B. Jacks, age 85, of Gas City, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in his home.
Melvin was born April 25, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late Floyd and Jane (Bruning) Jacks.
Melvin was a Navy Veteran and was a self-employed truck driver and farmer for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #135 and enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include: three daughters, Theresa (Michael) Russell of Upland, Indiana, Raejean (Ron) Vorhees of Lake City, Florida and Lennie (Kevin) Coldren of Ft. Myers, Florida; two brothers, Donald Jacks of Marion, Indiana, and Floyd Jacks of Montgomery, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie Stevens of Marion, Indiana, and Billie Sarll of Wabash, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating. The committal service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the funeral service. Due to the extreme cold weather conditions the family will not be going to the cemetery.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, in the funeral home.
