Merritt R. Bragg

December 15, 1925 — June 14, 2012

Merritt R. Bragg, age 86, of Marion, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, in his home surrounded by several members of his loving family.

Merritt was born on December 15, 1925, in Washington Township, Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Floren Delphos and Ella (Landrum) Bragg. He married Betty June Satterthwaite on December 17, 1944, and she survives.

Merritt was class president and graduate of the Van Buren High School Class of 1943. He worked for Farm Bureau CO-OP as manager for 20 years, then was a field man for the Indiana Farm Bureau CO-OP, and later was a Region Manager for a total of 44 years at Farm Bureau until his retirement on December 31, 1989.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau CO-OP, attended Grace Community Church, and was an avid golfer, continuing to play on the Senior League at Arbor Trace Golf Course. Merritt was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Richard (Patty) Bragg, Dr. Jeff (Cristin) Bragg and James (Jamie) Bragg, all of Marion, Indiana; two daughters, Cheryl Compton of Lebanon, Indiana and Rebecca "Becky" (Neil) Wolfgang of Marion, Indiana; sister, Wanda Baugh of Florida; 14 grandchildren, Adam (Michele) Bragg, Amanda Bragg, Jacob Bragg, Caitlin Bragg, Caleb Bragg, Jarrett Bragg, Jordan Bragg, Joel Bragg, Laura (Jeff) Harrell, Jeremy (Nicole) Wilson, Michael Wilson, Craig (Annette) Wolfgang, Aaron (Jill) Wolfgang and Angie (John) Daly; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Bragg, and sister-in-law, Virginia Bragg.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012 in the funeral home.
