Michael L. Nielander, Sr.

Michael L. Nielander, Sr., age 76 of Marion passed away Thursday morning October 4, 2018 in Marion General Hospital.

Michael was born November 12, 1941 in New Castle, Indiana the son of the late John Albert and Georgia (Allen) Nielander.  He married Geneva Thrasher on November 4, 1960, and she survives.

Michael’s first job was working at Fairmount Wire for 6 years.  He then worked at Gen Corp for 32 years until his retirement.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Michael is survived by his wife, Geneva Nielander of Marion; a son, John Nielander (Betty) of Marion; two daughters, Patricia Castanon (John) and Regina Haley (Mark), both of Marion; brother, Rex Nielander (Shelba) of Orlando, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death a son, Michael Nielander, Jr.; and a sister, Gardenia Logan.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Visitation will also take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9 in the funeral home.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Don Miller officiating.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
