Myrtle B. Clark

January 29, 1923 — December 3, 2017

Myrtle B. (Toothaker) Clark, age 94, of Marion, passed away Sunday afternoon December 3, 2017 in Marion General Hospital.

Myrtle was born January 29, 1923 in Lamar, Colorado the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Huff) Toothaker.  She grew up in Kansas and attended schools at Protection, Kansas and college at Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kansas.  Myrtle taught school at Manhattan and Coldwater, Kansas.

She married Charles W. Clark on June 1, 1947 and they moved to Muncie, Indiana.  A son, Kenton and a daughter, Dellana were born in Muncie.  While in Muncie, she taught a Sunday school class, sang in the choir and was youth leader at Industry E.U.B. Church in Muncie.  They moved to Marion in 1957.  She was employed at the downtown Hills Department Store for 17 years.  She was also co-owner of the Mode O’Day Store.  Myrtle later retired from Queen City.  Her husband preceded her in death on December 16, 2004.

She was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church and an active member of the Marion-Grant County Senior Center and she served on the advisory committee to the executive board.  She was also a member of the Sympathy Club at CPC.

She is survived by a son, Kenton (Michale) Clark of Frankton, Indiana; a daughter, Dellana Webster of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; brother, David Toothaker of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Fay Smith of Great Bend, Kansas, and Bernice Smith of Hutchinson, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Alice Baker, Floy Nixon, Melva Huck, Mabel Bogden, and May Thorpe; a brother, Thomas Toothaker, and son-in-law, Tom Webster.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will be held at a later date at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie, Indiana.
