Norman Lynn Rumple

October 12, 1936 — April 30, 2022

Marion

Norman Lynn Rumple, age 85, entered into heaven’s glory on Saturday, April 30, 2022.  Norman was born to the late Edward and Addymae Rumple in Van Buren, Indiana on October 12, 1936.  Upon graduating from High school, he joined the US Navy and married Phyllis (Wright), the love of his life.  They shared 63 years as one.

Norm was an electrician for General Motors, retiring after 33 plus years.  He was a member of Christland United Methodist Church, where he ran the sound system and served by providing special music as well as singing in the choir, in addition to other capacities at the church.  His faith was evident by his gentle and humble spirit.

His family was a high priority to him.  He enjoyed golfing and bowling with Phyllis when they were younger and in later years, sitting outside greeting neighborhood dogs and who came to visit frequently.  His children adored him and are proud to have inherited his “orneriness” as well as his humor.   His grandchildren, as well as many other children, were entertained by the handkerchief mouse that he would fold up and make jump at them.  Norm loved to make people laugh.  He also enjoyed fill-in puzzles while spending time in his “office.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Sheri (Doug) Bearden of Lafontaine; Michele (Glenn) Maddox of Marion; and son, Mike (Jennifer) Rumple of Lancing MI; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother, Harold Rumple; sister, Donna Douglas; daughter. Becki Watson; two great-grandchildren, Lauren McConniel; JJ Huggins.
