O. James Shiner, age 82, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Colonial Oak Health Care Center, Marion.
James was born October 13, 1929, in Montpelier, Indiana, the son of the late Orval Chester and Elsie (Brock) Shiner. On June 14, 1949, he married Helen (Kreischer) Shiner. She survives.
He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1947 and attended the International College of Ft. Wayne. He was a Navy veteran and a contracted electrician until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of the IBEW Union #873, Kokomo, Indiana; the Masonic Lodge F&AM #109, Jonesboro; and the Scottish Rite, Ft.Wayne.
Survivors include: wife, Helen Shiner of Jonesboro, Indiana; two daughters, Deborah (Ernest) Marroni of Marion, Indiana, and Susan (Terry) Fidder of Medway, Ohio; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 6 great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Waunita Godfrey.
Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Masonic Services to follow.
