Opal G. Darnell, age 86, of Marion, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 20, 2015, in Colonial Oaks Healthcare.
Opal was born on March 31, 1929 to Omar and Edith Dillon in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She was one of 10 children.
She married Edgar Eugene Darnell and was married for 40 years. They were married in 1946 in Maysville, Kentucky.
Opal was a housewife for years and then worked at Northern Indiana Health Care Center in Marion, Indiana. She worked there for 17 years until she retired at age 60. She loved working in the Dietary Department and had many friends that she talked fondly of.
Survivors include: son, Rodger (Roxanne) Darnell of Huntington, Indiana; daughter, Patricia Pickup of Marion, Indiana; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, special thanks to niece Zelma Perrin for sending cards daily; brother, James Brooks Dillon of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and two sisters, Lucille (John) Miller of Marion, Indiana; and Dorothy Jean Jones, of Columbus, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Darnell; daughters, Darlene (Deck) Hodge and Diana Hintz; brother Reverend Amos Dillon; sisters, Bernice Crump, Belle Talley, Emma Katherine Glasscock, and Louise Boggs; a special uncle, Reverend Melvin Planck, a great man of God who led many to Jesus.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Chaplain Don Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
