Oscar Edwin Fortney, age 88, of Marion, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in his home.
Oscar was born on November 6, 1922, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Ralph Henry Fortney and Clara Fern (Morris) Fortney. On September 7, 1947, he married Helen Hazel McClain. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2000.
He was Plant Superintendent for Peerless Machine and Tool and retired in 1984. He was also a United States Veteran, serving in the Navy during WWII in North Africa and England.
Survivors include: two daughters, Susan (Ronald) Flack of Muncie; and Judith McKee of Marion, Indiana; three sons, Joe Fortney of Jonesboro, Indiana, Larry (Glynae) McKee of Marion, Indiana, and David McKee of Thomasville, North Carolina; three brothers, Robert Fortney, Donald Fortney, and James Fortney, all of Marion, Indiana; sister, Phyllis Martin of Willspoint, Texas; grandchildren, Traci Lidy (Roy), Troy McKee (Kim), Teal Keenan (Shaun), Travis McKee (Michelle), Thomas Hagedorn (Taryn), Jay McKee (Crystal), Kelly McKee, Shawna Purvis, Lisa Fortney, Jessica Fortney, Kay Fortney, Joshua Flack and Christopher Flack; and great-grandchildren, Jeff Wood, Noble McKee, Larry McKee, Zach Hagedorn, Seth Hagedorn, Luke Williams, Nina Wilson (Adam), Hunter McKee, Cassidy Disney, Corey Purvis, Alexis Purvis, Adrianna Chesher and Lane Chesher.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Fortney and John Fortney, and two sisters, Shirley Albaugh and Mary Culbertson.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Helm officiating.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
