Patricia Ann "Patty" Smith, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Friendship Village Long Term Care Facility in Schaumburg, Illinois, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Patty was born on June 19, 1928, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Herschel and Lydie (Bothwell) Martin. She married Paul Smith, and he survives.
Patty was a life-long member of the 9th Street Methodist Church and later she and her husband became members of Grace Community Church. Patty enjoyed singing and participated in the Marion Easter Pageant starting as a Garland Girl at the age of nine and sang int he pageant choir for over 20 years. Patty enjoyed her family and was the youngest of 12 children of which her sister Cora Martin is her only remaining sibling. Patty also enjoyed cooking and was known for her passion for collecting angel figurines.
Patty is survived by her husband, Paul A. Smith both formerly residing at 3510 Huntington Road, Marion, Indiana; sons, Kevin P. Smith (Robin) of Elgin, Illinois and Rodney M. Smith (Debbie) of Keller, Texas; sister, Cora Martin; grandchildren, Matthew K. Smith (Kathleen) of Naperville, Illinois, Jill T. (Smith) Schumacher (husband, Stephen) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Austen Smith of Keller, Texas, Harper Smith of Keller, Texas, Kendall M. Smith (Christina) of Dallas, Texas, Ross A. Smith of Dallas, Texas, and Ronessa VanCleave (Chad) of Dallas, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren, Ryan (13), Maggie (12), and Eileen Smith (8); and Ella (4) and Kennedy (2) Schumacher.
Also preceding her in death are her brothers and sisters, Marie Martin, Alberta Scott Martin, Irene Reed Martin, Helen Keisling Martin, Audrey Ogden Martin, Nelson Martin, Eugene Martin, Phyllis Powell Martin, Betty Bennett Martin, and Norma Jean Martin.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Entombment will follow in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 14, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
