Rene JoAnn (Barley) Gerber of Miami, Florida, passed away suddenly on February 7, 2010.
She was born on May 25, 1936, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Albert R. Barley and Rowena (White) Barley.
JoAnn graduated from Marion High School in 1954 and attended Ball State University. She married Kelly Guillory of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and they lived in Germany where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. They had two daughters, Cynthia and Kathleen.
She later returned to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where she married Gary Gerber and together they owned and operated The Gerber Haus in Marion and the Indian Spring Campground in Garrett, Indiana.
Survivors include, daughter, Kathleen Guillory of Miami, Florida; first husband, Kelly Guillory of Lake Charles, Louisiana; brother, Richard Barley (Elizabeth) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; niece, Anne Roach of Arlington, Texas; nephew, Christopher Barley of Keller, Texas; and cousin, Frances Spurgeon & family of Marion, Indiana.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Shorter and her second husband, Gary Gerber.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 18 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice that would go to benefit children or the homeless; or to the Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief.
JoAnn's fun and giving spirit and her zest for life will be missed by everyone.
