TRYON, NC - Rev. Harold Norman Smisor, age 75, of Peniel Road, passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2009 at his home.
Born in Marion, Indiana, he was the son of the late Berton and Ruby (Breedlove) Smisor. He was first married to Janet Matthews Smisor who died in 1975 and later married Ann Reece Smisor who died in 1993. Rev. Smisor was a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, attended Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky and began pastoring in 1959. He has served many churches over the years with his last being the Mill Spring Methodist Charge.
Surviving are his wife, June Holbert Hill Smisor; three sons, Matthew Smisor (Robin) of Rockledge, Florida, Mark Smisor (Theresa) of Memphis, Tennessee and Kenneth Smisor (Wendy) of Pearland, Texas; two stepsons, Grant Wooten of Rocky Mount, N. Carolina and Jamey Hill (Katie) of High Point, N. Carolina; five stepdaughters, Beth Faircloth (Ricky) of East Bend, N. Carolina, Cathy Shore (Tommy) of Yadkinville, N. Carolina, Joy Garcia (Jorge) of Piedmont, S. Carolina, Jeri Redman (Scott) of Manassas, Virginia and Jennifer Furman (Wright) of Campobello, S. Carolina; sister, Bonnie Bedwell (Dexter) of Marion, Indiana; 26 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in New Hope United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton, N. Carolina with Rev. Butch Osborn, Rev. Ned Owens, Rev. Don Llewelyen and Rev. Alice Day officiating.
Graveside Services & Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722; or to New Hope United Methodist Church, 4251 Chesnee Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
Out of state arrangements were handled by McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N. Carolina and local arrangements by Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
