Richard F. Allen

Richard Allen, age 83, of Converse passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in his home.

Richard was born December 14, 1934 in Marion, Indiana to the late Ernest and Fern (Acree) Allen.  He married Rhonda Mauldon on December 12, 1994, and she survives.

Richard very proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, serving in Korea & Vietnam. He was a well decorated Marine and received several medals and awards during his service time.  He then worked as a lineman and installer for AT&T (formerly Indiana Bell Telephone Company) until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion, Fairmount.  Richard enjoyed spending the winter months in the Florida Keys where he loved going boating.  He also enjoyed working around the house and outside in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Allen of Converse; son, John Allen of Marion; brothers, Don Allen of Marion, and Phil (Carol) Allen of Dowagiac, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and his very special great-nephew, Trey Mauldon with whom he shared a special bond.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Allen.

There will be no visitation.  Graveside Services and Burial with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Arrangements entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Tower Suites, Marion, Indiana 46952.
