Robert J. French "Frenchie", age 90, of Marion, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehab in Marion.
Robert was born October 25, 1925 in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Robert and Ella Mae (Seacott) French. He married Bettie Louise Robb, the light of his life, on February 14, 1953 at Grace United Methodist Church, and she survives.
He was a 1944 graduate of Marion High School and a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Chicago during WWII. He was the Chief Tool Design Engineer at Dana Corporation for 34 years until his retirement. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 60 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks; and a member of the American Legion Post 10. Robert enjoyed surfing the internet, working crossword puzzles and going to Bible study.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie French of Marion, Indiana; two sons, David French of Houston, Texas and Don (Angela) French of Indianapolis, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan French.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Russ Smith officiating.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christland United Methodist Church Building Fund, 721 E. Charles Street, Marion, Indiana 46952; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
