Robert J. Osborn

ROBERT J. OSBORN, age 91, of Marion, passed away at 10:01 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.

ROBERT was born on January 17, 1919, in Logansport, Indiana, the son of the late William and Dora Bell (Landis) Osborn. He married Minnie Buchanan and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2005.

Robert served in the Air Force during WWII. He was a softner plant operator for the Marion Water Department for 38 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Temple Congregational Church since 1948, and a member of the A.A.R.P., and the Senior Citizens Center where he was known as the "King of Euchre". He was a former member of the American Legion Post #10 and the Odd Fellows.

Survivors include: son, David Osborn (Peggy) of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Anita Osborn (Tammy Butts) of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandson, Jonathan Osborn (Amy) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; granddaughter, Jodi Simpson (Clay) of Columbia, South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cooper, Alexis, Caden and Caroline Osborn, and Brandon Ragan.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Paul, J.C., and Russell Osborn, and two sisters, Katherine Van Duyn and Martha Crooks.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, at the Temple Congregational Church, 1006 N. Western Avenue, Marion, with the Reverend Dr. Marv Wiseman officiating.

Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

The family sincerely requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marion-Grant County Senior Center, 503 S. Gallatin Street, Marion, Indiana 46953.
