ROBERT M. PARKS, was a true follower of Jesus Christ. He left Rolling Meadows Health facility to be with his Lord at 8:00 p.m.Thursday, March 5, 2009.
He was born on October 14, 1922, to Reuben C. and Mary E. (Sample) Parks. His entire life was spent in Marion, Indiana. On October 14, 1950, he and Barbara J. Duncan were united in marriage. Two sons were born to this union. David (Carolyn Daniel), Tupelo, Mississippi and Gregory, Hampton, Georgia.
Mr. Parks retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Prior to that he was employed at Marion Machine Foundry. He was one of the founders of the Marion Postal Employees Federal Credit Union. He was the treasurer at Sunnycrest Baptist Church for about seventeen years, and also served on the finance committee and as an usher. He got enjoyment from his flowers and lawn work as well as helping others.
Survivors are his wife, two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Heather (Vinh) Dang, Fishers, Indiana, whom he and his wife raised; Christine (Jamie) Bryson, Elgin, South Carolina; Jonathon (Kelly) Parks, Allen, Texas; Suzanne Parks, Lakeland, Florida; Rachael Parks, McDonough, Georgia; Alexa Bradley & Brandon Dang, Fishers, Indiana. Also surviving are two brothers, James (Mary) Parks, Newport News, Virginia and Everett (Virgie) Parks, Albion, Indiana; and special friends, Ray and Jean Peninger.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Charles Ternet officiating. Inturment will be at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
