Roberta L. Jackson Hungerford, age 90, died on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
Roberta was born on October 26, 1919, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Roe Raymond and Edna Devona (Trostel) Riley. She was married to Harold E. Jackson and then John W. Hungerford. Both preceded her in death.
She was a secretary for Marion Community Schools and the YWCA. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Marion. Her life revolved around caring for her children and her dedication to her church. She was a compassionate person who always put others before herself. After her retirement, she took up golf and played daily at Hart's Golf Course with her husband. She had a green thumb and loved to grow flowers and plants.
Survivors include: son, Samuel A. Jackson (Pauline) of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Sue Heuer (Tom) of Warsaw, Indiana; three step-sons, Jack Hungerford, David Hungerford, and Ken Hungerford (Kathryn); step-daughter, Carol Barnes (Mike) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; granddaughter, Kaitlin Louise Heuer; grandson, Christopher Maxwell Jackson; great-grandson, Clarke Maxwell Thompson; many cousins including, Mary Jane Downing and Julia Carter, both of Marion, Indiana; and many nieces & nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Riley.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Kaye Patton officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
