Rose Mary (Sgroi) McCracken, age 93, of Manistee, MI was welcomed home by her heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 28, 2010.
She was born on May 31, 1917 in Indianapolis, IN daughter of the late Salvatore A. and Mary C. (Romano) Sgroi. She married Harold McCracken on August 23, 1941 at Holy Rosary Church in Indianapolis. Together they celebrated 45 years of marriage until Harold's death on March 11, 1987.
She is survived by four children: Patti (Ken) Kramer of The Villages, FL, Reverend John McCracken of Manistee, MI, Rick McCracken of Marion, IN and Jim (Sandy) McCracken of The Villages, FL, one son-in-law: Roy (Regina) Davis of Marshall, TX, fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two brothers & two sisters-in-law: Jim Sgroi, Salvatore (Ruth) Sgroi and Naomi Sgroi all of Indianapolis, IN. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
In addition to her parents Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, a daughter, Barbara Jean Davis, two sisters, Mary Conger and Frances Ragle, one brother, Michael Sgroi, her granddaughter, Ashlee Davis and two great grandchildren, Bobby Kramer and Madison Rose Holness.
The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Manistee on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. where a Vigil Service will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
Mass From the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Marion, Indiana with her son Reverend John McCracken celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Gardens of Memory in Huntington County, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Rose's name for Manistee Catholic Central School Tuition Assistance Fund of Manistee or St. Paul Catholic School Tuition Assistance Fund of Marion, Indiana.
The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of arrangements in Michigan and Raven-Choate Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana handled local arrangements.
