RUTH G. BARBER, age 85, died at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Marion.
Ruth was born on January 28, 1925, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of the late John and Christina (Wolf) Green. On June 3, 1945, she married Irving Barber who preceded her in death on May 24, 1984.
Ruth worked in the mailroom and as a receptionist at the Chronicle Tribune from December 1973 until her retirement in December 1990.
She was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Survivors include, three sons, Allen Barber (LoRetta) of Denver, Colorado, Larry Barber and Darrell Barber, both of Marion, Indiana; daughter, Carol Murphy (Tony) of Marion, Indiana; two sisters, Helen Koester of Tuscon, Arizona, and Mickey Myres of Washington State; grandchildren, Melissa Black, Megan Bhatt, Allyson Lightcap, Carmen Murphy and Connor Murphy; and 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Gabriel Black, Emma, Rajiv and Arjun Bhatt.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Barber and three brothers, John, Ed and Sam Green.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Gary Dalton officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
