Sr Johney M Carney

JOHNEY M CARNEY, SR, age 68, of Marion, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009, unexpectedly in his home.

JOHNEY was born on September 2, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tn, the Son of the late John Carney and the late Margaret (Evans) Carney.

He was a full time employee of the Indiana Army National Guard for 36 years, retiring in 2000 at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Prior to his Guard duty, he served in the United States Army. John served his country in the Armed Forces from 1956 - 2000. He was also a barber from 1968 - 1974.

John was a member of American Legion Post 10 and the Sons of the American Legion.

He enjoyed his life, especially his dog, fishing, and family. He will be missed by many friends and family who loved him dearly.

Survivors include Fiancee, Candy Osborn of Marion and his dog Cheyenne. Son, Marty Carney of Marion, In, Son, Ronnie Carney (Peggy) of Trafalgar, In, Son, Jason Carney of Taylorsville, In, Daughter, Jolene Carney of Taylorsville, In, Sisters: Betty, Barbara, and Linda, all of Tennesee, and a brother, Larry from Ohio. Grandchildren include: Jenna, Ethan, Kelsie, Kenszie, Gavin, Logan, Haley, and lastly his beloved dog, Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mary.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, Marion .

Burial with full military honors, will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana .

Friends may call from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday, February 19 at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
