Susan J. Smith

Susan J. Smith, age 69 of Van Buren passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

Susan was born November 21, 1951 in Freeport, Texas the daughter of the late Kermit and Dorothy (Walker) Holmes.  She married James Smith on August 11, 2003, and he survives.  She worked at RCA for 27 years, retiring in 1999.

She is survived by her husband, James Smith of Van Buren; daughters, Tracy (Scott) Riddle of Niceville, Florida and Kelly Nissley of Warsaw; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Todd) Craighead of Indianapolis; two step-sons, Keith Smith of Van Buren and Andy Smith of Marion; a sister, Kathy (Pat) Sellers of Marion; a half-sister, Jo Corell of Angola; sister-in-law, Vicky (Gary) Warnock of Converse; four grandchildren, Jessica Riddle, Hannah Nissley, Graci Nissley and Destiny Hasty; 4 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, Jake Nissley; 9 step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a step-son, David James Smith; grandchildren, Jake Nissley, Hailey Nissley and Brandon Nissley; and her beloved pets, Ralph, Bobo, Harley and Shadow.

As per Susan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services and cremation will take place.

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
