Ted LeRoy Snyder died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009, in Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Marion with his wife and daughters by his side.
Ted was born on May 12, 1928, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Theodore and Marjorie (Dicken) Snyder. On May 19, 1957, he married Edna Hankins in Warsaw, Indiana. She survives.
Ted attended Marion and Bluffton schools prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army where he served with the Occupational forces in Japan from March 1946 to March 1949. Following his discharge, he worked for Farnsworth in Marion. He then worked at Dana Corporation from 1951 until his retirement in 1993 after 42 years in the same job.
He was a member of Unity Christian Church; the Van Buren American Legion; and the Marion Men's Bowling Association. He was especially proud of having achieved a perfect 300 game, 700 series and induction into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He was also an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Edna Snyder of Marion, Indiana; daughters, Cheryl K. Bendix (Stephen) of LeChesnay, France; and Marcia E. Guenin (Larry) of Marion, Indiana; sister, Donna L. Anderson (Robert) of Amboy, Indiana; three grandchildren, Scott Bendix of Worcester, Massachusetts; Alec Bendix of Brookline, Massachusetts; and Emily Bendix of LeChesnay, France; and several nieces & nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Lavonne Crist.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Jerry Curtis officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 Wednesday, December 16 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Unity Christian Church, Cancer Services of Grant County or the American Lung Society.
