SUN LAKES, ARIZONA - Theda Ellen Rogers, age 90, passed away Saturday morning, April 10, 2010, at Hospice of the Valley in Arizona.
She was born on September 25, 1919, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Raymond Charles and Carrie Mable (Lacy) Heniser.
The former Theda Heniser married Samuel R. Rogers on September 8, 1940. Before moving to Sun Lakes, Arizona in 2001, she lived many years in Marion, Elwood, and Muncie, Indiana. She was a graduate of Muncie Business College, was a volunteer at the Marion Public Library, and was a lifelong homemaker. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Marion, serving as deaconess and as a choir member. She was also a former President of the Indiana Chapter of the American Baptist Women Missions Society.
Survivors include two sons, Richard A. (Jeanine) Rogers of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Ronald J. (Paula) Rogers of Midland, Michigan; six grandchildren, Nicholas A. (Erin) Rogers of Richardson, Texas; Jonathan A. (Jennifer) Rogers of Sharpsville, Indiana; Adrienne (Enrique) Elizondo of Greensboro, N. Carolina; Miranda (Joshua) DeVries of Kissimmee, Florida; Tyler S. Rogers of W. Lafayette, Indiana; and Cameron A. Rogers of Queen Creek, Arizona; and four great-grandchildren, Katherine E. Rogers of Richardson, Texas; Cheyenne M. Elizondo of Greensboro, N. Carolina; Dakota R. Elizondo of Greensboro, N. Carolina; and Jensen C. DeVries of Kissimmee, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. Rogers and her brother, Wehman Heniser.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 403 W. 4th. Street, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Richards officiating.
Interment Services will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana; and one hour prior to services on Saturday, April 17 at First Baptist Church.
