Vicky J (Snyder) Moriarity

October 22, 1954 — November 24, 2013

Vicky J. Moriarity, age 59, of Marion Soared into Heaven Sunday morning surrounded by family after an eleven month battle with pancreatic cancer. Vicky was born in Bucyrus Ohio on October 22, 1954 to Owen and Jean Snyder, and they survive. Vicky married Marvin Moriarity on July 1, 1972.

Vicky graduated from Marion High School in 1972, received her teaching degree from The Ohio State University in 1984, and earned her Master's degree in Gifted Education from Texas Woman's University in 1987. Vicky loved teaching school and taught 27 years with the last 22 years in the Marion Community Schools. Vicky took many 5th and 6th grade students to Boston on field trips to see the history there that she had taught them during the school year. Over the course of the years she taught in Ohio, Texas, Arkansas, and Indiana.

Vicky was a diehard Buckeyes Fan and supported her Ohio State Buckeyes in all sports. She wore Ohio State apparel, had an Ohio State room in her home, and collected memorabilia. Vicky loved to spend time with her family, read, learn, travel, and explore. She has eight grandchildren that she loved spending as much time with as she could. Taking her grandchildren on vacations with her to learn and explore new areas was a real joy for her. Vicky was a member of College Wesleyan Church and was a very strong and faithful Christian who loved praying for anyone in need, and supported many mission opportunities.

Survivors include: her husband of 41 years, Marvin Moriarity of Marion; parents, Owen and Jean Snyder of Marion; daughter, Michelle (Dr. Nathan) Hoover of Chesterton; son, Brian (Michelle) Moriarity of Cape Coral, Florida; two brothers, Mark (Melissa) Snyder and Stephan Snyder, both of Marion; two sisters, Cheryl Pratley and Karen (Dennis) Harvey, both of Marion; mother-in-law, Wilma Moriarity of Gas City; sister-in-law, Brenda (Greg) Hensley of Gas City; brother-in-law, Michael (Debbie) Moriarity of Fairmount; brother-in-law, Patrick (Bonnie) Moriarity of Jonesboro; 8 grandchildren, Alexis and Austin Hoover, Mercedes, Gabrielle, Bridget, Riley, Sophia and Chanel Moriarity; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana, with Pastor Alex Mandura officiating.

Burial will follow services in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, and one hour prior to services on Saturday in the church.

The family sincerely requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marc Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, New York 11714, for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
