Virgil Daniel Rennaker, Sr. was born May 11, 1914 in Marion, Indiana to the late Charles and Mamie Rennaker. Virgil passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home in Brookdale Assisted Living, Marion, Indiana at the age 101. Virgil lived his entire life near Marion.
He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Lois Butcher of Marion and Mrs. Norma Nelson of
Terre Haute; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Foust and Mrs. Martha Porter, both of Marion; his son, Danny Rennaker; daughter-in-law, Joan Rennaker; granddaughter, Laura Rennaker Perlee and her husband Todd; great-granddaughters, Miss Isabella Perlee and Miss Sophia Perlee, all of Georgia. Virgil was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was a farmer and a journeyman tool and die maker at Fisher Body (now General Motors) in Marion. After retirement he continued to use his hands to create beautiful pieces of furniture that won many prizes at craft fairs. His pieces are treasured by many family members and friends.
He was a Master Mason and a Past Master of Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge #333, a 32 Degree holder in the Fort Wayne Valley of Scottish Rite, past patron and member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the UAW Union # 971 and a life-long member of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church.
Masonic Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2015, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with funeral services to immediately follow with Chaplain Don Miller officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday September 28, 2015 in the funeral home prior to funeral services.
Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
