Virginia Hiatt

August 23, 1939 — April 6, 2010

Virginia (Ginger) Hiatt, age 70, of Sweetser, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on August 23, 1939, in Albin, Michigan, the daughter of the late Carl and Jerry (Stevens) Hiatt. She was a journeyman operator at Foster Forbes for 30+ years until her retirement in 1991. While at Foster Forbes, was President of Local#38 and very active in many capacities within the Union.

She served on the Sweetser Town Council many years as President and Vice-President, was Police Commissioner for the Town of Sweetser, and as Park Board Commissioner, was instrumental in the development of Sweetser Switch Trail. Ginger was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Navy, and had a tremendous love of dogs.

Survivors include, son, Tony Hiatt and his wife Fran, who was like a daughter, of Huntington, Indiana; close friends, Nancy & Bob Younce of Sweetser, Indiana, and several aunts, uncles & cousins.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana at a later date following cremation.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 10 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
