Virginia Lee Rohrer

Virginia Lee Rohrer, age 93, of Marion passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 8:28 p.m. at Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center in Marion.

Virginia was born on July 29, 1929 in Akron, Indiana.  Her parents were Jesse and Emma (Myers) Bowland.  Virginia attended Amboy High School where she played girls basketball.  She later transferred to Converse, where she graduated in 1947. She was married to Fred Flynn from 1947 to 1953 at which time, Mr. Flynn died in an automobile accident.  Virginia married William Rohrer on November 26, 1954, and he passed away in May 2007.

Virginia worked at RCA for three years, and eventually retired from General Tire after 19 years.  She accepted her Lord at Westside Assembly, before becoming a faithful member at Roseburg Church of God.  Her hobbies were watching birds, camping, quilting, crafts, participating in CB Club, and playing bingo with nursing home friends.

She is survived by her children, Michael Rohrer of Marion, Marjorie Flynn-Ellis (Wayne) of Marion and David (Mikki) Flynn of Milford; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Bowland of Converse; sisters, Alice Hudson of Marion, Betty Hodson of Greentown and Wanita Lavensky of Amboy; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Rife; brothers, Woodrow Bowland, Wayne Bowland, Russell Bowland, and Eugene Bowland; and sisters, Ann Roseberry, Carol Bowland, Violet Lowe, Dorothy Rose, Mary Fisher and Patsy Bennet.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the exceptional workers at Colonial Oaks Healthcare.  Your many years of professionalism and compassionate care has been greatly appreciated.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Virginia’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bill Fulda officiating.

Burial will follow funeral services in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion (Huntington County), Indiana.
