VIRGINIA V. SMITH, age 83, of Marion, died at 6:05 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor, Marion.
VIRGINIA was born on December 13, 1924, in Grant County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Guy E. Howell Sr. and Alma Opal (Dodd) Howell. She married John H. Smith on May 8, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1995.
VIRGINIA worked in production at General Tire and in the white room at RCA.
She was a member of Grace Community Church, where she was active in the Women of Grace Bible Study, the Kitchenettes and Hands of Healing. She was also a member of the Mississinewa O.E.S., and the McDonald's Breakfast Club. Her church, family and friends were her life.
Survivors include Brother, James J. Howell (Rosalyn) of Marion, Indiana; Sister, Hope Rose of Kokomo, Indiana; Sister-In-Law, Betty Howell of Marion, Indiana; Nieces, Bobbie Corey (Phil) of Marion, Indiana; Shirley Harrison of Indianapolis, Indiana; & Cindy Rose of Kokomo, Indiana; Nephew, Michael Howell of Van Buren, Indiana; Step-Niece, Joyce Elsroth (Don) of Marion, Indiana; and Step-Nephew, Larry Haines (Elaine), Arizona.
She was also preceded in death by sister, Mary Helen Howell, two brothers, Guy Howell, Jr. & Harry Ray Howell, three nephews, Tom Howell, Ron Howell & Wayne Rose and niece, Patricia Cardwell.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Grace Community Church, with Reverend Dr. Thomas Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until services on Thursday, May 8 at Grace Community Church, 1810 Bradford Pike, Marion, Indiana.
