Virginia A. Stodghill

November 17, 1927 — September 24, 2009

VIRGINIA A. (JENNY) STODGHILL, age 81, of Marion, went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on November 17, 1927, in Oak Town, Indiana, the daughter of the late James and Anna Sanders. She married Vance Stodghill on June 15, 1946. He preceded her in death in September 1978, as well as her daughter Debbie who preceded her in death in 1968.


She was a dedicated Mother to raising her 15 children besides being an avid homemaker. She delighted in spending time with her many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She worked for 10 years at Thompson B&K Root Beer. She attended the Nelson Street Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Amvets. She loved to work crossword puzzles, play solitaire, do crafts and was a master at Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed her many friends and activities at the Riverside Apartments.


Survivors include: daughters, Carol Cooke of Van Wert, Ohio, Jackie Blocker (Dave) of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Jerri Woods (Chris) of LeMont, Illinois, Shirley St. John of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rebecca Freyburgher (Terry) of Portland, Indiana, Tammi Stodghill of Marion, Indiana and Franci Kessler (Edward) of Charleston, S. Carolina; sons, Kenny Stodghill (Judy) of Owensboro, Kentucky, Terry Stodghill (Barbara) of Marion, Indiana, Greg Stodghill (Martha) of Owensboro, Kentucky, Ronnie Stodghill (Anita) of Marion, Indiana, Donnie Stodghill (Janice) of Blanchester, Ohio, James Stodghill of Marion, Indiana and Edward Stodghill (Carla) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 38 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and very special friend, Mary Jane Armstrong of Marion, Indiana.


Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Bill Thompson officiating and Pastor John Wrightsman assisting.


Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.


Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.


Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
