WALTER EDWARD "WALLY" SCHLESINGER, age 80, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion, Indiana.
He was born on August 3, 1927, in Millstadt, Illinois. He married Donna Jacobs on July 25, 1980. She survives. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII.
He loved cooking and baking for his family and friends. He loved his pets and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Survivors include Wife, Donna Jacobs of Marion, Indiana; Sister, Norene Albert of Millstadt, Illinois; 4 children; 4 step-daughters, Tanis Lott (Jeff Davis) of Montpelier, Indiana; Janis Henry (James "Skip") of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Mary Brading of Montpelier, Indiana and Julie Ramsey of Amboy, Indiana; adopted step-daughter, Dianna Lyerla (Carroll) of Gaines, Michigan; 8 step-grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, with the Pastor Joseph Quilles officiating.
Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until services on Wednesday, July 2 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1702 E. Bradford, Marion, Indiana.
