William "Bill" Jackson, age 86, of Marion, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at St. Vincent Seton Speciality Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bill was born on May 25, 1925, in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Cecil Sims Jackson and Jane (McDowell) Jackson. On September 21, 1947, he married Mildred Cunningham, and she preceded him in death.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a state agent for the Indiana Unemployment Office in Marion until his retirement.
He was a member of the Marion Elks, the Marion Moose, the American Legion in Van Buren and was on the Board of Directors of the Boys Club. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed coho fishing and pheasant hunting.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Murans of Fishers, Indiana, and Susan Richey of Marion, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Dianne Jackson of Rockford, Michigan; grandchildren, Mary Lynn (Michael) Valle of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jim (Jennifer) Richey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Melissa (Troy) Yeakle of Marion, Indiana, Paul (Sara) Murans of Carmel, Indiana, Nick Murans of Peru, Indiana, Michael Jackson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Kate (Tony) Lam of Rockford, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Ashley Richey of Auburn, Alabama, Christopher & Matthew Valle of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kiersten & Austin Richey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Allison, Clayton & Brandon Yeakle of Marion, Indiana, Dylan & Carter Murans of Carmel, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Mildred, a son, Bill Jackson, Jr., and two sisters, Katherine Hohman and Mary Rigney.
Funeral Mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Father Jon Beitans officiating.
Graveside Services & Burial will be held at 12:00 Eastern time (11:00 a.m. Central) on Friday, March 2, 2012 in Arcola Township Cemetery, Arcola, Illinois.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
