William Harvey Rea, age 76, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at home following a continued battle with Cancer.
He was born on March 10, 1936, in Patriot, Indiana, the son of the late Clarence and Lena Rea who preceded him in death. He married Linda L. Rea in 1992, who survives.
He graduated from Patriot High School and Indiana University. He was a Certified Public Accountant who ironically died on April 15th. He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1969. He was the founding father of the CPA firm of Rea Logan & Company where he was still employed at his death.
He believed in giving back to his community and profession. He was Past President of the Indiana CPA Society and served on numerous committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Indiana CPA Society. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana CPA Society. He assisted numerous clients over almost fifty years with their businesses no matter how small or large. He treated them like they were family.
He was Past President/Chairman of various organizations including but not limited to the Board of Marion General Hospital, Grant County Economic Council, Marion Grant County Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation of Grant County and Exchange Club. He served on the Indiana Wesleyan Community Committee and the Meshingomesia Country Club. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Marion, Indiana.
His passion in life was bass fishing when not golfing. He was gone most weekends tournament fishing. He loved life and his family.
Survivors include: wife, Linda Rea of Marion, Indiana; his brother, James (Jane) Rea of Benton, Kentucky; his sons, Keith (Beth) Rea of LaPorte, Texas, Thomas Rea and Floyd Rea, both of Marion, Indiana; daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Kondas of Lima, Ohio; Kathleen (Steve) DeLong of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-daughter, Michele (James) Lanier of Greenwood, Indiana; step-son, Kyle (Tammie) Clupper of Prescott, Arkansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as his fellow employees at Rea Logan & Company who were his second family.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Charles Rea.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana with full military honors.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
