William R. "Bill" Winstrom, age 87, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012, in his home.
Bill was born on February 18, 1925, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Richard and Margaret (Dahlke) Winstrom. He married Rosemary Gerke on April 12, 1947, and they shared 66 years together.
He was in supervision at the General Motors Plant in Marion until his retirement. He was also a U.S. Marines veteran, serving during WWII.
Bill was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and the Elks Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Rosemary Winstrom of Marion, Indiana; four sons, Richard (Leanne) Winstrom of Mooresville, Indiana, David (Barbie) Winstrom of Danbury, Connecticut, William (Susie) Winstrom of Marion, Indiana, and James (Ronnie) Winstrom of Grand Rapids, Michigan; daughter, Nancy (Morrie) Millspaugh of Marion, Indiana; brother, Thomas (Sharon) Winstrom of Rancho Mirage, California; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Millspaugh of Marion, Indiana, Daniel Millspaugh of Marion, Indiana, Jon (Laura) Millspaugh of Marion, Indiana, Amy (Ron) Howard of Fishers, Indiana, Ashton Winstrom of Greenwood, Indiana, Betsy Winstrom of Mooresville, Indiana, Jake Winstrom of Connecticut, Kate Winstrom of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sam Winstrom of New Orleans, Louisiana, Lindsay Winstrom of Marion, Indiana, Kelsay Winstrom of Marion, Indiana, Kristie Winstrom of Marion, Indiana, Adam Winstrom of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Aaron Winstrom of Kentwood, Michigan; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Winstrom, Margaret (Dahlke) Winstrom, step-mother, Alice Winstrom, a son, Daniel Winstrom, and a brother, Duane Winstrom.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, with the Father Richard Weisenberger officiating.
Graveside Services & Burial with full military rites will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., in Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming, Michigan.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
